Final Exam Info & Study Guide

When: Tuesday, May 4, 1:30-3:20
Where: Classroom, 119 Old Main

The final exam is optional. If you are satisfied with the grade you earned for blog entries (15%), you may opt not to take the final exam (10%). If you take this option, the grade you earn for the blog entries is 25% of your grade for the course.

Final grades for your Gender, History & Hollywood presentations or essays will be posted on Blackboard, Friday, April 30. You may pick up the grading feedback forms for these presentations beginning Monday, May 3, in the JCOM office (8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.). Based on these grades and the grades your team earned for the other class assignments (all grades are on Blackboard) you will be able to calculate your approximate grade for WGS 1010 and decide whether you want to take the final. Please note: If you take the final, the grade you earns counts, regardless of whether the exam grade raises or lowers your final grade for the course.

Please do NOT ask me to calculate your grade before the final exam. I will not calculate grades for the class until AFTER the final exam. You will need to do your own math. The percentage breakdown for each assignment and for each grade (A, B, C, D) is explained in detail on your syllabus.

Death of "godmother of the women's movement"

Dorothy Heights dies: Founder and four-decade-long president of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW)

The undaunted Dorothy Height
UPON HER DEATH Tuesday, Dorothy I. Height was hailed a hero, the grande dame of the civil rights movement, an icon. She was all of those things. Yet somehow words fail to capture what was so remarkable about this woman who fought for so long, and with such tenacity, dignity and resolve, for racial justice and gender equality.
